iBooks, iTunes U, Apple Music and Safari Not Working on iPad – What to do?

If the apps by Apple such as iBooks, iTunes U, Apple Music and Safari are not working on your iPad, you should follow the methods in this guide to fix the problem. So far I’ve only encountered an iPad Air 2 with an up-to-date version of iOS (iOS 8.4.1) that experienced the issue.

What happens with the Apple apps :

Apple Music – it does not recognize your Apple music subscription and you’re unable to open the Apple Music tab from settings.

iBooks / iTunes U – it does not display any content after opening. This problem can be resolved by turning the iPad off and on, however, the other apps by Apple still experience problems.

Safari – will freeze up when opening.

More apps that may or may not have issues as well :

  • App Store
  • iPhoto and iMovie
  • Keynote and Pages

What to do to resolve the problem?

  1. Open Settings and choose General.
  2. Tap on Reset.
  3. Select Reset Network Settings.

If the above does not work (it should work but if for some reason is does not) or you encounter the problem again in the future, you should hold down the ‘Home’ and ‘Wake/Sleep’ buttons on the iPad at the same time for 15 seconds or longer until you see the Apple logo.
