How to fix no sound/audio or distorted sounds on iPhone/iPad

If your iPhone or iPad has no sound/audio after upgrading its operating system to iOS 8 or one day you just encountered distorted sounds, you should follow the methods in this guide to resolve the problem. That is, if resetting the device does not work.

Take note that this seems to be a common problem on iPhones and iPads running iOS 8 to iOS 8.0.2.

Try turning up the volume

It may sound stupid at first, but it might actually work. Maybe your iOS device has just been muted and increasing or decreasing the volume can unmute it. On the top-right hand side of your iPad, you should find the volume buttons.

Turn the rotation slider’s sound OFF

  1. Turn on the iPhone/iPad and go to ‘Settings’.
  2. Select ‘General’.
  3. Under ‘Use Side Switch To’, change it to ‘Mute’.
  4. Toggle the tiny button to the top of your iPad. It should be resolved.
  5. If you wish, you  can re-follow the steps and change it back to Rotation Lock.

Turning Mono Audio ON

  1. Turn on the iPhone/iPad and go to ‘Settings’.
  2. Select ‘General’, followed by ‘Accessibility’.
  3. Find the ‘Hearing’ category and under it you should find ‘Mono Audio’. Toggle the switch so that it’s turned ON.

This should fix distorted sounds on your device or no sound at all.
